Wild about Exmoor hosts a a convivial evening at The Dark Skies Discovery Hub where you can learn all about the Exmoor skies with a delicious three course meal (barbecue in good weather) and finish with an optional walk out into the dark skies reserve.
Use telescopes and lasers to starhop around the sky, identifying the main constellations and asterisms, then soak up the atmosphere of a dark, exmoor night.
Please take torches, warm clothing and stout, waterproof footwear if planning to join the walk.
All Hub events include a donation to “caremoor for Exmoor”, supporting the Exmoor National Park.

The atmospheric Dunster by Candlelight Festival takes place every year on the first Friday and Saturday of December. A charming start to the seasonal festivities, Dunster’s ancient streets ring with carol singers, choirs, brass bands and bell ringers. There are street entertainers, fire spinners, flame jugglers and medieval plays and all the local independent shops stay open late providing ideal opportunities for quirky Christmas shopping. There are plenty of welcoming bars, cafes and restaurants should the weather be chilly.
Colourful stilt-walkers lead an exuberant procession through the cobbled streets of the village to light the lanterns on the Friday evening and these take the place of electric street lamps for the two evenings every year.
Entrance is free and all profits from the sale of the festival programme go to the local St Margaret’s Hospice.
Join local walk leaders on a guided walk to Bat's Castle, Dunster. Starting from The National Park Centre in Dunster, you will be guided through hidden parts of the historical village and into some wonderful scenery and landscape on the outskirts of Dunster. You will learn about the rich history of the area and come across some breathtaking views. Please note this is approximately a 4 mile walk with some steep inclines in places, suitable footwear is essential and bringing a bottle of water is recommended. Booking essential - call 01643 821835
